Drone Pilot Practice Exam

The correct answer reflects the severity with which the FAA treats violations of alcohol or drug use policies for drone pilots. If a pilot is found to be in violation of these regulations, the FAA can impose a license suspension that lasts for a year. This time frame serves as a deterrent to ensure that all pilots maintain safe and responsible operational standards, as alcohol and drug use can impair judgment and operational capabilities, posing risks to safety in the airspace. The one-year suspension emphasizes the importance of adhering to these policies, which are designed to protect both the pilot and the public.

In contrast, lesser durations such as 3 months or 6 months are insufficient to convey the consequences of such serious violations, while the option of an indefinite suspension implies a permanent consequence that does not align with the FAA's standard practices, which generally have specific durations for suspensions and revocations.
